New PS3 Firmware update due in late March?

Psyonix Studio – the team responsible for the PSN mouthful that is Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle-Cars – has hinted that Sony will be releasing its latest PlayStation 3 Firmware update “later this month.”

"Sony mentioned a bug they fixed with the next system software update (2.7.0) that might resolve these issues, but we have to narrow it down and verify it's the same problem to be sure it's that and not something we need to fix on our end,” said the company in response to a bug in the racing title.

A further statement reads: "IIRC it will drop later this month. And contain lots of fun new fixes. I'm excited about this one, lots of new stuff."

Both posts were subsequently pulled offline soon after, though Sony neglected to comment on the matter, giving website CVG a firm “no comment.”

Guess we’ll find out soon enough. Keep your eyes peeled for more information as we get it.

Was the "(2.7.0)" a part of his quote or was it something added later as a reference to what he was talking about? The next firmware could be 2.6.howlongareweagain

Otherwise I see this as 97% confirmed :D

    @ Triple DK

I could be wrong but I dont think "2.70" was part of the original quote. I agree, the next firmware update could be 2.60 or anything. The number is irrelavent and I think because of the internet rumours surrounding what is going to be included, I think people are just jumping on the band wagon and getting themselves hyped for this whole "2.70 is gonna have........" when it could just be a few simple stability/bug fixes. I hope I'm wrong and it is something to shout about but until there is official confirmation or the actual update itself, I'm not gonna get my hopes up

C'mon Sony, if ps3 is a real media powerhouse, it should at least support NTFS and .mkv files

If the blabbermouth is excited about a lot of new features I would guess that we can see more than just stability fixes and such. Though he may be a nerd that gets excited about bug fixes, who knows?

Anyway, I agree. This is a 97% confirmation that a new update will come. But the question is: what are the new firmware gonna bring?

guy should have known better about making comments on what Sony are or are not going to do. I am quite sure that their small little teeny tiny game is not the top of Sonys list

BTW, Supersonic acrobatic rocke powered battle-cars is NOT a racing title like you guys say.
