PlayStation 3 Gamercard Spotted

PlayStation 3's response to the Gamertag system is known as "Gamercard." During a playable demo of Unreal Tournament III at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, an interesting tidbit was spotted on a menu. It’s called Gamercard and it doesn’t seem too unlikely that this will turn out to be a unique player identity system, not entirely different from the Xbox 360’s Gamertag system that manages player statistics and achievements.
When quizzed on it, Epic’s Mark Rein did little to avoid assumptions saying, “Oops, you shouldn’t have seen that”.
It is accessed with the triangle button. It is also unknown if it is a future Sony project that will cover the whole of the PlayStation Network or whether it is simply a feature of UT3.
