Yoshida says more developers working on 3D titles

Sony is all about 3D, not just in the PlayStation 3, but in its TVs, as well. If you plan on getting a 3D TV, or already have one, you shouldn’t worry that Sony is the only company working on 3D games.

In a recent interview with PlayStation.com, Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida said, “Almost all WWS developers are researching how they can incorporate stereoscopic 3D technology into their games.”

He went on to say, “With regards to adding 3D technology to existing titles, it is much more difficult to do as the game engine has already been developed, and in most cases the development team has moved on to new titles.
“It is always better to adopt new technology into new titles, as the content can be created with stereoscopic 3D effects in mind.”

So, he’s basically telling us that more new 3D games are coming, but older games won’t get a patch or update to make them 3D. There are some pretty big titles getting 3D treatment, including Gran Turismo 5, MotorStorm: Apocalypse, LittleBigPlanet 2, Killzone 3, and The Sly Collection.

    @2, How many times do you plan on coming out of the closet... this is like the 11th time.
    Just because you cannot afford it and/or are not interested doesn't mean it's bad.  You should go to an iMAX movie and tell that to all movie goers as they come out and see what happens to your sorry a**

     @ 3 - Do you expect everyone to like something? I guess I might as well believe Jesus is my savior then.

    This isn't good news. I was desperately hoping to see Naughty Dog drop a nugget in my lap with an Uncharted 2 3D patch at some point. This article doesn't make that seem very likely.

    Stop showing those stupid red/green glasses. You're giving people the wrong idea.

    Anybody who doesn't like the new form of 3d hasn't seen it in action. It's awesome.

    Honestly, the majority of the gaming world can't afford 3D tv's which are around starting price $1699.99(New) and then the glasses are around around $129.99 each!!    I really want all the 3D stuff but its just too much money! :(

    @2

    Until you have seen 3D on the new TVs, you have not seen 3D. The movie 3D is crap, Imax as well. The TVs are all active 3D which means the glasses are powered, not just funky plastic. Much different and more immersive than the movie theaters.

     3D gaming will take a long time to develop fully as not every one has 3D tv's and they come expensive but sony should take steps towards 3D world
