A job listing for the chaps at Sony Santa Monica has hinted that the esteemed studio may be ready to incorporate some form of online play in its God of War series.
Posted on Gamasutra, the listing confirms the developer is on the hunt for a senior online programmer to “join the God of War team,” adding it will “support networking needs (such as in-game communication, client-server, match-making, leaderboards).”
God of War launched in 2005 and has remained a solo-only experience, with the most recent entry, God of War III, hitting shops in March 2010.
PSP outing Ghost of Sparta followed last November, with developer Ready at Dawn recently confirming it’s begun working on a new action IP.
Stay tuned.

Maybe it isn't exactly what it seems. Maybe they are hiring for online workers but are actually doing it for a new Ip, and they just said "join the God of War team" just to let people know who they are and what kind of good reputation they already have. Not actually for a new multi-player God of War game.
I know the industry is going the way of the multi-player, but God of War should remain a single-player experience maybe co-op can go well in the series if they absolutely have to have some type of multi-player..

A NEW action IP. It was already stated that God of War 3 would be the last in the series. Maybe after several years will they release another one but that's what I've read. Only way it will not be that way is if Ready At Dawn decides to milk the game. It'll probably be a new IP.

@3 i think you're wrong- it was stated that gow3 will end kratos' journey (trilogy), but they said gow as a series doesn't end- it was said by david jaffe and some other people from santa monica. they don't know how it will continue, what characters or mythology they will use yet... but it is possible that things changed since then. we'll see.
