E3 2011: SCEA boss unsure over Agent PS3-exclusivity

Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), has admitted he’s unsure as to whether or not Rockstar’s Agent is still a PlayStation 3-exclusive.

The game has been laying low ever since its initial unveiling two years ago, prompting many folk to expect it to show up at Sony’s E3 presser Tuesday night. That never happened, obviously.

Quizzed by GameTrailers TV if the game is still exclusive to Sony’s black box, Tretton commented, "I don't know where we're going to end up on that."

Fortunately, he did confirm the project is “still in development,” though couldn’t offer any insight as to why it hasn’t shown its face in so long. “You'd have to ask Take-Two about that,” he added.

Stay tuned.

my bet is they conceptualized it, announced it as a ps3 exclusive, but couldnt devote their time and money to an exclusive new ip, so they started developing gta5 instead. agent will come out someday, but id say the chances of it being a ps3 exclusive are slim to none. likely a timed exclusive if anything.

I Swear if AGent goes multiplatform after this many years of Development i'm not even gonna buy the game even if it looks better than uncharted ... if GTa 5 comes out that's another story but AGENT ...Hell No they waited 1000 years to show something and when they do they announce multuiplatform ?? no way never gonna happen... i just can't believe it's been 2 E3's and we still don't know Jack about this game...

Translation: Rockstar have said "Sony, we want more money to keep this exclusive and Sony have said "Frak off.  Make it exclusive and get the benefits of developing exclusively for the PS3 or don't.  We\'ve got more important things to deal with like shoring up our network.  You dicks."

Remember this si all still buisiness. After the Hacking and the Earthquake, Sony is hurting, so the funding that Sony does to developers may have taken a hit. Also the Hacking hurt R*'s bottom line too because they have content on the story that wasnt accessable for 4 weeks. To recoup losses or to offer an olive branch Sony may have left it up to R* to decide if they want to stay exclusive or not to give them the chance to make some extra money. Remember, Sony doesnt buy their exclusives they build partnerships and if something damages that they sometimes have to make concessions. We might see the Agent being a 6 month or 1 year exclusive if anything.

@Doggyps3: Ridiculously childish, completely unjustified statement, man. Your Sony fanboy sense of entitlement is pathetic, and the fact that you wouldn't play the game simply because it isn't an exclusive is absurd. They haven't shown ANYTHING from the game yet, and you're ALREADY whining? You don't deserve to play it, kid.
