You won’t have to wait much longer to get your hands on one of the most anticipated sequels for current generation consoles, because Rockstar has confirmed that Max Payne 3 is coming in March 2012.
“Max Payne 3 gave us an amazing creative opportunity to evolve one of our most iconic characters” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "Max Payne has always had a rich narrative and deep story intwined into the game, and with the help of the current hardware, we can expect this to be a beautiful rendering of Max’s world."
The game will incorporate “the latest advances in Natural Motion physics” and a brand new iteration of Rockstar’s own ‘Rockstar Advanced Game Engine’
“We’re excited to show fans a modern version of Max that pulls them back into his dark and twisted story.” says Houser. “[Expect] highly-refined gameplay, with an extensive range of realistic weaponry, an intelligent cover system and sophisticated Bullet-Time mechanics.”
The story of Max Payne 3 picks up where the others left off, continuing the tale of former NYC detective Max Payne, who is still haunted by the memories of his traumatic past. In this latest instalment, Payne begins a new life working in the private security sector for a wealthy industrialist and his family in Sa Paulo, Brazil. When gangs target the family under his protection, Payne is forced to fight not only to save his clients, but also to clear his name, in a bid to once and for all rid himself of the demons that have tortured him all this time.
In a move seen frequently in recent Rockstar titles, Max Payne 3 will feature a multiplayer mode that features load-out options and a leveling up system.
In another interesting revaluation, Rockstar has decided to remake the original Max Payne for mobile devices rather than the current-gen systems. Apparently, Max Payne mobile will feature HD graphics, hi-res textures, and even support wired controllers.
Max Payne 3 promises to deliver a “dark, gritty action experience that is sure to satisfy newcomers and fans”
Release is around March 2012, but keep your eyes peeled for a more specific date in the near future.
