Jr. Product Manager of DICE, Tommy Rydiing, today confirmed via the PS Blog, that the Battlefield 3 Beta is now (Friday, September 29) open to all PlayStation Network users.
You can log into the PSN right now and go download your BF3 Beta to participate in some serious online explosive action in the Operation Metro map.

DICE also offered the Top 10 Battlefield Tips for Operation Metro:
1. Stick to your teammates, and remember to spawn on them to stay close to the fight.
2. Use your kit specific abilities to help your team mates. Assault can hand out med kits, Engineers can repair vehicles, and Support can hand out ammo.
3. When you arm an M-COM station, defend it to ensure it’s destroyed.
4. The bombed-out tunnel section in Operation Metro is an excellent place to use a flashlight as one of your weapon attachments. Use it to light the tunnels up – and to blind your enemies!
5. Attach bipods to your weapon and deploy it automatically by pushing up against cover or laying prone and zooming in – this gives you a huge increase in accuracy and stability.
6. Use suppressive fire (shoot close to enemies behind cover) to negatively impact the enemy’s fighting capabilities.
7. Watch out for falling debris — it can hurt you! But you can also hurt your enemies by taking out buildings with the Engineer’s RPG.
8. Shotguns are excellent for CQC (Close Quarters Combat) in the tighter tunnels sections.
9. Fire automatic weapons in short bursts for accuracy, or switch to single-fire mode if applicable.
10. To grab your enemy’s dog tag as a souvenir, perform a stealth knife kill from behind.
DICE assures us that the version of BF3 that we play in the Beta will not be final, as we'll have to wait 'till October for that.

Screen tearing is bloody awfull on PS3 and so is the graphics... i know graphics arn't essential but compared to the footage and screenshots we've seen on the interwebs i'm pretty disappointed, was quite fun to play tho.
The missus has it for the 360 and it looks miles better upscaled to 1080p with fsaa and it didn't have any screen tearing that i could see... so yeah disappointing to be honest.

Multiplayer is always visually a lower resolution than single player. This is a multiplayer beta so obviously the effects from the single player game aren't going to be fully realized in it. I played for an hour and had a lot of fun.

I played it an the graphics look like BF2, they are not great but the maps are huge, it has a lot to it. I liked that you really act as a team and it really feels and sounds like a battlefield. The trees and grass outside look bad but that didn't bother me, however; in the trainstation, whole different story. I looks real good in the subway station.
A friend had told me that it sucked but i like it. we have to understand that they give up a little of the graphics for bigger stuff (if those two things are reciprical of each other idk lol)

The beta is pretty bad i got stuck between alot of stuff atleast one time during a few gameplays. Visually it's not that good either, i don't know if it's just me but when i played bf3 multiplayer it felt as the quality graphics of the guns was as bad as black ops. Anyways i didn't like multiplayer at all so i'm hoping to get a demo of single player to see if i'll buy the game or not. :(

I was talking about graphic differences between single and multiplayer. Are you so thin skinned that any deviation from your discussion in the post previous to mine makes your sandy-vagina burn?

I loved the BETA, but for sure the graphics aren't as good as videos, as most of the video footages were from PC 1080p FSAA 8x Ultra Details and etc.. We CAN'T compare PC vs Consoles. I've always said BF series were PC games, not meant for Console..
I still enjoy the beta, waiting for the PC release. Once we get maps with vehicules, planes, etc in the full version, this game will rock. I love the "realism" in this game, using vehicules, not the boring CoD, needing to walk on small maps.
Everyones has preferences, and I do prefer realism and big.. BIG maps with planes, quads.. See you October 25th on 64players maps on PC mates!!

@14 Sure I don\'t want to make this a PC vs Console thing, and thanks for the link also, I\'ll take a minute to read that article.
Still I think for a 300$ hardware machine, BF3 still looks very good on PS3! Sure we can\'t compare it to PCs as they are 700$++, add a good mouse, keyboard, a pretty screen and a kick *** sound system and or headset with microphone.. can\'t be below 1500$.. So of course I\'m pleased with Console version as well!! :)

I haven't seen someone as thin skinned and paranoid about how they are perceived in an article discussion, and so wholly tightly wound as DigitalBeast, in a very long time. Poor thing must be fat.

this game SUCKS. at least put tdm in the beta. too long respawn time, too much saving, too much running just to get killed by a camper. the uav is pointless. this game forces u to camp because you dont want to go through all that running to get back into the killzone and die by a camper. then you have to do that long waiting just to get respawned again. after a while u start to think ima just camp too cuz i dont want to go through that long waiting to fight again. this is not a rush game. im use to resistance, CoD, gears, and halo. i bet out out the four games i just mentioned all you trolls will just see CoD and get offended and start crying blah blah...
if you like to camp with slow paced action, then this game is right for you.
but if you like to run n gun (like me) with no respawn time, than this game is not for you.
on the up side: bf3 graphics and the running and jumping over stuff is the only thing i liked.

I sincerely hope that the final product looks a lot better than this beta. I bought Medal of Honor and enjoyed the multiplayer in that game quite a bit but didn't get my beta access in a timely fashion. I didn't buy Medal of Honor for the beta access so who cares but still...
I prefer Conquest mode with vehicles to Rush Mode with infantry only when I play Bad Company 2 and I won't be playing Rush Mode in BF3 when it comes out, either, so I will give this one a pass on the gameplay front, because it was not fun to play really. Rush mode is camp mode inherently if you are the defending team. Conquest is more run and gun. The outdoor portion of the beta is extremely poor graphically, in my opinion. Medal of Honor and Bad Company 2, especially Vitenam, look a lot better with the foliage and textures, and with all the advertising I had high hope for BF3 graphically. I agree with those who said the beta looks better inside the subway station, as it really did look pretty decent indoors.
As far as gameplay I don't like that I can't take your dogtags head on anymore and the campers lying prone reminds me of why I don't play Call of Duty. Perhaps the game I am anticipating is Bad Company 3 and not Battlefield 3. We will see soon enough but until now I had no doubts. Now I have some doubts about Battlefield 3.
I remember the Killzone 3 beta and it looked and played really well...it made me want to buy the game. In the end I played Killzone 3 for two weeks and returned to Bad Company 2: Vietnam but the point is the beta was really good. The BF3 beta does not make me want to buy the game but I will buy it and play it based on my experience playing and enjoying the franchise via 1943 and Bad Company 2. . The jets and tanks and helicopters are what really matter to me anyway, and if the game is as fun to play as 1943 or Bad Company 2 then I will be happy overall, despite the graphics not living up to the hype thusfar. I don't use computers for games, but with the graphical discrepancy I can now really see why the DICE team is calling for the next generation of consoles.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the final product is significantly more impressive than the beta. If not I'll be busy playing Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and F1 2011 which is killer by the way!
