Grand Theft Auto V to be shown at Gamescom?

Gamescom is Germany's annual celebration of all things videogames. The show might be a bit low-key compared to E3, but new announcements and gameplay footage, along with playable demos of surefire holiday hits, are a mainstay every year. Big things may be coming to this year's show in particular.

A LinkedIn profile for Gerald Bauser, Project Manager for Gamescom programming, lists titles that Bauser is supervising for this year's show. Among the entrants is none other than Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar Games' upcoming open-world epic and arguably one of the most anticipated games ever. We have no reason to doubt the legitimacy of Bauser's profile; his resume also lists nearly seven years of experience as a program manager for E3 and another 6 years, 3 months as a program manager for Gamescom.

If Grand Theft Auto V is truly set to appear at Gamescom, one might expect that appearance to take the form of gameplay footage, or another trailer at the very least. Expectations are high for Rockstar in the next several months given Take-Two's current fiscal projections, so a release in Early 2013 seems plausible. Hopefully we get more concrete details once Gamescom 2012 kicks off on August 15 in Cologne, Germany.
