The president of Gearbox Software has poured cold water on last week’s rumors suggesting that Borderlands 3 is in development.
Speaking on Twitter, Randy Pitchford made it clear that a third entry in the critically-acclaimed action franchise is not in the works. His comments come after Borderlands 2’s lead writer said the team were planning for the next game.
“Chill out internet. No one has started working on a sequel to Borderlands 2. It’s fun to talk and think, but actual effort is focused on Borderlands 2 DLC, Aliens, etc,” he said.
“Clean and Simple truth: The only Borderlands related game development work going on right now is for Borderlands 2. I expect that to change at some point, but that is the state of the box at this moment in time…”
Borderlands 2 was released in mid-September and smashed pre-order records for publisher 2K, topping the U.K. All Format Charts in the process. Check out our review of the loot-heavy sequel here.

truthfully, why would anyone jump on this in the first place?
enjoy the product you have in front of you at this moment!
secondly, this came from a damned writer.....what else is he going to be doing now? writting the deep intricate plot twists in thier mega DLC packs? lol.
i imagine all the writters are brainstorming any and everything they can imagine....things not even tied to Borderlands maybe.
