Insomniac is doing something developers never do, let other companies know their secrets. In what is being called a ground breaking decision, Insomniac is releasing their tidbits instead of keeping them close-guarded secrets from the developing community.
The project at hand is going to be called, "Nocturnal Initiative." One reason for this is, "developers spend resources solving problems that have already been solved."
By doing this for the community, Insomniac expects it to allow gamers the opportunity to experience better games overall. The public site, nocturnal.insomniacgames.com will allow developers to browse in a wiki-format in order to access bits of Insomniac code.
These tools will obviously be usable with the PlayStation 3 console, but because they’re PC-based, they’ll more than likely be compatible with the XBOX 360 as well.
