Ubisoft’s open world hack-’em-up Watch Dogs has smashed records for biggest-selling launch week for a new IP in the U.K.
The game was released worldwide on May 27, and beat out previous record holder, L.A. Noire, which was released in May 2011.
Watch Dogs also secured Ubisoft its best launch since 2012’s Assassin’s Creed III, selling 17 per cent more than the American Revolution-focused title. It’s also the 17th best video game launch in the U.K. since records began.
Sony had also reason to celebrate too, as the PlayStation 4 version of the action-adventure title outsold all over versions. The Watch Dogs PS4 bundle accounted for 53 per cent of all sales for Sony’s next-generation platform last week to boot.
