THQ this afternoon announced that Jason Rubin, co-founder of Naughty Dog, has officially been appointment as president on the company, replacing Danny Bilson. Rubin will now report to Brian Farrell, THQ Chairman and CEO.
Also on his way out of the company is Dave Davis, former senior vice president of THQ’s “Core Studios” – the division that oversees the company’s biggest AAA games.
Rubin will be brining 20 years of success to the table, having co-created both Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter franchises. He will now oversee THQ’s new direction of making less licensed video games, and making more AAA “Core” games for multiple platforms.
“THQ has incredible internal and external game development teams, and an exciting slate of games in its development pipeline,” said Rubin. “The recent transformation of THQ into a creator of wholly-owned IP has placed it in a perfect position to leverage future trends in the game business. I look forward to working with the management team and board to realize the company’s goals,” he added.
