If you are one to believe LinkedIn CVs, you may be excited to learn that Sony has been working on its next generation PlayStation since at least August 2010. That’s according to Attila Vass’s LinkedIn profile, where he lists his experience as director of research and development at Sony Computer Entertainment America from May 1998 to April 2012.
His CV includes experience working on graphic library and security for the “Next Generation PlayStation” between August 2010 and April 2012. It’s important to note that he also lists work on the PS Vita, so the “Next Generation PlayStation” referenced in his CV is likely not Sony’s new handheld device.
His CV on LinkedIn was picked up by the folks at VideoGamer.
Vass wrote on his profile: “I worked on graphics ( COLLADA, PSGL ) and a lot of network related technologies ( advertising, telemetry, PVRs ) for the Playstation2-x, PSP, Vita and Next Generation platforms. Platform security was occupying most of my time at the last years… ”
The writers and editors of PSU have heard from several credible sources that Sony’s next console is likely out holidays 2013, but many indicate it likely won’t come out until 2014. At that point, it’ll get several notable new games in well-established franchises, like the sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. However, as with everything floating around the internet, take all this news with a grain of salt until you can touch the PS4 with your own hands.
