Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain tops U.K. Charts, PS4 version beats Xbox One by huge margin

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has hit the top spot on the U.K. Chart following its launch last Tuesday, setting a new sales record for the long-running stealth franchise.

The game, which is reportedly Hideo Kojima’s final outing in the series, smashed week one sales of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty by nearly 37 percent.

In addition, The Phantom Pain sold through a whopping 72 percent of all copies on PlayStation 4, easily beating out the Xbox One version, which made up 22 percent. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions made up three percent and two percent of all copies sold, respectively.

Elsewhere, Mad Max debuted in second place, with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition pushed to third. Until Dawn and Disney Infinity 3.0 made up the rest of the top five.
