Star Wars Battlefront now pre-loading on PS4 and Xbox One

Star Wars Battlefront has now begun pre-loading for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for those who pre-ordered DICE’s highly anticipated sci-fi shooter.

PS4 owners will be required to download the initial file size of 4GB, with the remainder of the game file being made available in time for the game’s release on November 17. Star Wars Battlefront will take up approximately 23GB overall on your console’s hard drive.

Those of you in Europe who have pre-ordered the game will also receive six Star Wars Battlefront themes for your PS4, while North American customers will bag a static Star Wars Battlefront theme. As previously reported, the game’s day-one patch is now available to download for PS4 and Xbox One.

Star Wars Battlefront is seen as something of a reboot of the popular shooter franchise. The game eschews the single-player component seen in previous iterations of the much-loved franchise, instead focusing on large-scale multiplayer battles. Gamers will travel to a number of iconic Star Wars locations including Hoth, Tatooine, and Sullust as they take on the role of a Rebel or Empire troop in massive firefights, as well as stepping into the legendary boots of the likes of Darth Vader, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia.

Last month Star Wars Battlefront went into open beta and drummed up an eye-watering 1.6 billion minutes of play time with nine million users flocking to the playable teaser. Earlier this week EAconfirmed a full list of weapons and detailed the various Star Cards you can find in the game, whileSony released a couple of new gameplay clips teasing customisation and a rather brutal kill by the one and only Darth Vader. Be sure to have a look at the new Star Wars Battlefront live action trailer when you get a chance, and check out the Star Wars-themed DualShock 4 controller while you’re at it.
