Naughty Dog has confirmed during a live stream event overnight that it’ll be a while before we hear anything on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’s single-player expansion.
The California-based studio noted that production on the DLC didn’t commence until after Uncharted 4 shipped back in May. As such, the developer said we’ll hear something “as soon as we’re able to give you more info.”
Uncharted 4’s single-player content was announced last year, with Naughty Dog stating that its decision was influenced by the success of The Last of Us’ Left Behind DLC. However, it later admitted it has ‘no idea’ what it’s going to do with the expansion.
Given the outcome of Uncharted 4—which we’re not going to delve into here, obviously—fans already have their own ideas of what will be happening in the DLC.
Naughty Dog is finished with Uncharted, but the series could still live on
Uncharted 4 takes place three years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and sees Nate reunited with his long-lost brother, Sam. Together with Victor Sullivan, the siblings head off on a globe-trotting adventure that sees them tracking down a legendary pirate treasure.
Naughty Dog has confirmed that A Thief’s End is the final Uncharted title they will be involved with, although hasn’t ruled out the possibility of another studio taking over the development reins of Uncharted 5.
Uncharted 4 managed to sell over 2.7 million copies after just one week on sale, and topped the U.K. All Format Chart upon launch giving the franchise its biggest release to date.
