Resident Evil 7’s Kitchen tech demo will be available for PSVR at launch

Capcom has announced via Twitter that it will release the Resident Evil 7 Kitchen demo for PlayStation VR users in EMEA territories on October 13.

The demo was previously made available during E3 2015 and again at EGX the same year, although at the time it wasn’t known that the horror-themed Kitchen was actually part of what would later become Resident Evil 7: biohazard.

Resident Evil 7 PSVR is exclusive for one year

Capcom announced Resident Evil 7 during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, where it confirmed the survival horror sequel will allow gamers to play through the title from start to finish using PSVR. It later emerged that the game’s VR mode will be exclusive to Sony’s device for approximately 12 months.

Resident Evil 7 is scheduled for release on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on January 24, 2016. The game takes place entirely from a first-person perspective, and is set on a sprawling plantation mansion in Louisiana, southern U.S. According to details from the ESRB, gamers will control newcomer Ethan as he searches the estate for his missing wife.

The Resident Evil 7 demo is now available to download via the PlayStation Store, and was recently updated to feature a number of new items and a brand new room to explore. Read more on the teaser in our Resident Evil 7 demo walkthrough, which also sheds light on the mysterious dummy finger item.

Resident Evil celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, with Capcom having already marked the occasion by releasing PS4 and Xbox One ports of Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6. The studio confirmed last summer that it’s working on a Resident Evil 2 Remake, although we’ve yet to see anything on the project as of yet.
