Friday the 13th: The Game developer Illfonic has been accused by gamers for neglecting its horror slasher in favor of working on its new project, Dead Alliance.

While the studio had quietly announced the zombie-themed shooter back in May, it wasn’t exactly well-known by the majority of Friday the 13th fans, who have wasted no time in venting their frustrating at Illfonic via the game’s official message boards.

Chiefly, gamers are miffed that the studio has still failed to fix many of the issues with Friday the 13th, which have plagued the game since launch. Furthermore, the development team has asserted many times that it is primarily focused on the horror title, so the news that they are also beavering away on a second game hasn’t sat well with fans in light of the number of outstanding issues.

It’s not as if Dead Alliance is still some way off, either. The game is due for release in beta form on July 27, and will receive a full-blown launch on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on August 29.

One fan wrote: “I understand that it’s Illfonic working on it, but aren’t they the backbone for [Friday the 13th]? In the state the game is in, I expected all hands to be on deck for fixes. Not making a zombie survival shooter. Like there’s already not enough of those on the market.”

I saw announcements for this game a long time ago. I didn’t know it was Illfonic,” another said. “Could this be the reason why the current game feels like a d*** beta?

Still, it’s not all bad news. Publisher Gun Media recently confirmed that Friday the 13th will be receiving single-player content this year, and what’s more, it’ll be completely free. More fixes are also promised, although what the studio has up its sleeves in this respect has yet to be detailed.
