Remember Abandoned, the survival horror title developed by Blue Box Game Studios that probably never actually existed in the first place? Well, it’s reappeared on the PlayStation Store, this time with a 2027 release window.
“Abandoned is a horror survival shooter with the focus on realism,” reads the blurb, although that’s about it as far as details go.
Abandoned was originally announced back in 2021, and it didn’t take long for speculation to run rampant that Hideo Kojima was involved in the project and that it was related to Silent Hill. Kojima-san had previously pulled a stunt during development of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, where he did the whole Moby Dick Studios fake out. However, Blue Box Game Studios assured fans that they were a real development studio, and said that the Kojima rumours had negatively impacted Abandoned’s development.
The last time we properly heard about Abandoned was nearly four years ago, when Blue Box Game Studios revealed on social media that it was still working on the project, having previously dismissed chatter that it had been cancelled.
Will Abandoned ever see the light of day? Who knows at this point!
