Assassin’s Creed movie production gets underway, confirms Ubisoft

The CEO of Ubisoft has announced that the movie adaptation of its multi-million selling Assassin’s Creed video game franchise has entered production.

Due to hit cinemas in December 2016, the film will star X-Men: First Class actor, Michael Fassbender, and is being produced by New Regency and 20th Century Fox.

Said Guillemot: “This is a very important milestone for the project.”

Not much else is known about the film yet, although Fassbender himself has said the movie will be respectful to the game while introducing new elements into the mix.

Aside from Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft has a number of video game to movie adaptations planned, including Ghost Recon, Watch Dogs, and Far Cry.

The publisher confirmed during its latest financial call overnight that Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Rogue have shipped a combined total of 10 million units.
