Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Brings Back The Assassin’s Blade

Ever since Assassin’s Creed became a more open-world RPG with Origins the franchise’s signature Assassin’s Blade had gone missing. This is of course because it was an origin story to the assassins but then Odyessy was released and once again the hidden Assasin’s Blade was missing in action. Though it wasn’t a major gameplay change, some fans looked at it as such a pivotal instrument to the lore of the franchise that they simply didn’t consider Origins or Odyessy as real Assassin’s Creed titles.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Brings Back The Assassin’s Blade

WIth Ubisoft now moving on to a very violent part of history, it seems that the Assasin’s Blade will return in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla as was shown off in the CG trailer released last week. In an interview with Kotaku Valhalla game director Ashraf Ismail said that the Assassin’s Blade will not only return to the franchise but will also bring back instant kills and social stealth segments from past titles.

“Eivor receives the hidden blade quite early on,” said Ismail and will have to learn to use it quickly. “We continue with the idea that Eivor is not a trained assassin. Eivor is a Viking who receives this badass weapon and has to learn very quickly. Early in the experience, Eivor will learn a technique that, with the right timing … can one-shot-kill virtually anybody.”

Now it may be weird to think that Valhalla will bring back Social Stealth sections given that Vikings were more about the battle and the honor of battle instead of stabbing people in back, it will be interesting to see just how this is handled in Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is set to launch this holiday on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
