Atari Hideo Kojima News PS5 Snatcher Wade Rosen

Atari CEO Would Love To See A Hideo Kojima Classic Remastered

Atari chief Wade Rosen has revealed during an interview with VGC the three games he’d like to see be given the remaster treatment, including a classic 90s Hideo Kojima title.

The executive noted that you need to strike a balance between choosing ‘passion projects’ that have more of cult audience and those that will perform well commercially. He pointed to Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection as an example of a re-release that applies to both categories.

Still, in regards to his own three choices, Rosen picked Panzer Dragoon Saga, Ogre Battle, and Snatcher.

Life’s too short, you know? I’ve got mine too, right? If we ever had a chance to work on Panzer Dragoon Saga or Ogre Battle or Snatcher or something like that… I mean, I don’t know if it would do well, but I’d probably push it through and make sure we did it just because I would love to work on one of those. But it all has to be in a balance. If this company just became like ‘what games does Wade want to work on?’ we would not be around too long.

Snatcher was originally released back in 1988 for the PC-8801 and MSX2, and takes the form of cyberpunk graphic adventure game set in a futuristic East Asia metropolis, where Snatchers — humanoid robots — have been bumping off humans and replacing them in society. The game features a semi-open world to explore and and uses a menu-based interface to examine items and speak to characters. Following its original release, Snatcher launched for the Mega CD in 1994 and saw a Japan-exclusive release for the Sega Saturn in 1996.
