DICE has revealed during a Battlefield 6 multiplayer event in Hong Kong recently that bots will “backfill” its servers if there’s not enough players to fill a match.
Developer Battlefield Studios, which is a collective outfit made up of studios including DICE and Criterion Games, said that its aim is to “allow as many players as possible to play at any time.” In addition, Jac Carlsson of DIC said the use of AI soldiers will also beemployed in custom games made in Portal that allows players to get comfortable with the action before jumping into real matches.

In related news, Battlefield 6 will be kicking off one of two Open Beta weekends later this week, and the client is now available to download and preload now for PS5. Elsewhere, it has been confirmed by DICE that console users will be able to take advantage of mouse and keyboard support for Battlefield 6, while its Performance Mode will run at 60 FPS for all formats including Xbox Series S.
EA will publisher Battlefield 6 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on October 10, 2025.
