Bloodborne is getting a new update next week – well, sort of. It’s not anything like bug fixes or new content, just a maintenance update for the game’s servers.
But it seems that nothing can happen with or around Bloodborne without fans latching onto new hopes that the long-awaited remake or remaster
In fairness, it’s not so much the update that has fans inhaling a new batch of hope-ium, it’s the date of the update. It’s scheduled for December 3, 2024, which is relevant for a few reasons.
First, it’s the actual 30th Anniversary of the PlayStation platform that Sony has been leading up to these last few months. Second, besides that date being the anniversary, it also appeared in a recent trailer that has made everyone suspicious about some kind of PlayStation event happening that day.
And last but certainly not least, if there was actually something to this update, it wouldn’t be the first time a substantial update for a FromSoftware game was hidden beneath a maintenance update.
Could this all be a coincidence there’s nothing more than server maintenance happening next Thursday? That is very likely, yes. Occam’s razor tells us that’s all that’ll be happening.
But could it also be that Sony will surprise players with a new showcase event for the anniversary, and during that event, announce that a Bloodborne Remaster is not only real, but that it’s actually available right now as a shadow drop, going live with the new server update?
Probably not. But we can still hope.
