Electronic Arts today announced a release date for Brütal Legend in Europe, with the game hitting PAL territories on October 16 for PS3 and Xbox 360. A North American release is scheduled for October 13.
"Wooo! Having an official release date is awesome,” said Tim Schafer, President of Double Fine Productions. “And how cool is it that EA threw down the dough to have the name of an entire month changed to Rocktober?"
In Brütal Legend gamers follow the tale of Eddie Riggs, played by Jack Black. Eddie is the ultimate roadie, being the first person anyone calls if they need stages rigged or guitars tuned. Shortly before the game begins, Eddie is knocked unconscious during a stage incident and awakens to discover himself in a bizarre universe where heavy metal album covers and lyrics alike have miraculously sprung to life.
Eddie soon realises that the world isn’t as cool as he had originally thought when he discovers that an evil demon emperor called Doviculus and his army has taken the remaining human survivors as slaves. Using his heavy metal knowledge, Eddie forms a band of roadies that must turn the world into an age of metal while defeating Doviculus’s evil army and freeing those enslaved.
