Build A Rocket Boy Is Reportedly Preparing For Layoffs That Could Affect 100 People Following MindsEye’s Troubled Launch

A report on IGN has claimed that MindsEye developer Build A Rocket Boy has informed staff that it is starting proceedings for redundancies after the game’s troubled launch earlier this month.

According to studio sources, the layoffs could impact over 100 employees at Build A Rocket Boy, with one individual, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the site that there’s no details available yet on how many staff will be affected, but the 45-day consultation process was put in place today. According to IGN, Build A Rocket Boy employs around 300 people in the UK, with a further 200 based abroad.

In case you haven’t been keeping up with our earlier coverage, MindsEye launched on June 10 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, but was plagued with various technical issues and subsequently received poor reviews. Build A Rocket Boy was quick to respond to the issues, saying it was ‘working around the clock‘ to improve the game’s performance, and later said it was ‘heartbroken‘ to see so many players experience the issues.

MindsEye received a major update last week that addressed a number of bugs and glitches, but for many early adopters the damage had already been done.
