Marathon developer Bungie has posted up a new job listing for an Events System Designer on its careers page, which suggests the upcoming title will feature in-game seasonal events.
The job description confirms that the successful applicant will be responsible for putting together an in-game events roadmap, and mentions crafting “compelling seasonal events that enhance replay ability.”
As a Staff Events Systems Designer, you will execute a roadmap for in-game events. You will leverage your knowledge of tech design, activities, sandbox mechanics, and investment systems to integrate events into the broader game ecosystem and are technically stable and scalable.

Last week it was reported that the Steam backend uploaded a number of preorder bonuses for Marathon, although Bungie has yet to officially announce anything. Back in October it was confirmed that Marathon was available to Wishlist on the PlayStation Store, although at the time its director said it was “a little early to show you all of it as one piece.”
Marathon is a reboot of the original first-person shooter title released by Bungie back in 1994, which took place a number of centuries in the future in outerspace, with players taking on the role of a security officer attempting to thwart an alien invasion while on board the titular colony ship. The reboot will take place in 2850 and will take the form of a science-fiction PvP extraction shooter.
