Bungie talks Destiny PS4 Pro update – 4K gaming on hold

Bungie has confirmed that it will not be releasing a Destiny PS4 Pro update just yet, despite a number of first and third-party titles having jumped on the HDR bandwagon in wake of the console’s announcement earlier this month.

Destiny update may come in the future

Speaking during an interview with GameSpot, Destiny’s Executive Producer, Scott Taylor, said that while the former Halo developer is “looking at” supporting PS4 Pro in the future, it isn’t committing to anything just yet.

Yeah. Not for Rise of Iron. Maybe as far as the future. We have nothing to announce today, but I mean we’ll be looking at [that],” said Taylor.

Destiny is gearing up for the launch of its next major expansion pack, Rise of Iron, on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 20. In addition, Bungie will release Destiny: The Collection on the same day, which features the base came and all four expansions, namely The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King, and the aforementioned Rise of Iron.

There hasn’t been a major DLC update for Destiny since last year’s The Taken King, with Bungie instead opting to release time-based events such as Festival of the Lost and Crimson Days to keep players entertained. Nonetheless, a major update in April integrated a host of new content, including a revamped Prison of Elders.

Looking beyond this year, Activision has announced that Destiny 2 is currently in development and will be released at some point in 2017. Presumably this will be just for current-generation consoles, as PS3 and Xbox 360 support for Destiny has been scaled back following an update in August.
