The long-rumored Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle royale mode is reportedly going to arrive in March, according to sources close to Video Game Chronicle.
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale Release Coming Soon?
The battle royale mode for the Infinity Ward-developed military shooter is supposedly going to be named Call of Duty Warzone, and may arrive as early as March 10. Despite all the leaks, Activision has still yet to officially confirm a battle royale mode for Modern Warfare.
VGC’s sources further state that Warzone will unlock for all Call of Duty Modern Warfare owners in a greyed-out menu item, and will also be made available as a separate release for free. This will also include the option to upgrade to the full version of Modern Warfare.
In addition, the battle royale mode will reportedly share unified progression with the Modern Warfare battle pass, with cosmetic goodies also made available in Warzone. Furthermore, the report adds that marketing for Warzone will start this week, with content creators in the US having been invited to the studio to play the mode and capture footage ahead of an official reveal.
It is believed that Call of Duty Warzone will function as a third pillar of sorts alongside Call of Duty Mobile and future full price outings, which contain premium content such as a campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies/Spec Ops. VGC also reports that Activision has no plans to slow down its premium Call of Duty releases, which rotate between Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer Games.
Yesterday it was reported that plans for the Call of Duty movie have been put on hold, as Activision reportedly does not consider the movie a priority for the time being.
Call of Duty 2020 is dropping later this year and will almost certainly launch for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in addition to current systems.
