Cancelled Deus Ex Game Story Details Prompt Response From Adam Jensen Actor: ‘This Would Have Been Fun Huh?’

Fresh insight into the cancelled Deus Ex game from Eidos Montreal have surfaced in a recent interview with Mark Cecere, a writer who worked on both Human Revolution and Mankind Divided, prompting a response from Elias Toufexis, the voice actor behind Adam Jensen.

Speaking with Script To Life on YouTue, Cecere said that players were initially supposed to venture to the city of Rabi’ah after what ended up becoming the conclusion to Mankind Divided. “I would suspect the plan was to go to this new city,” he said, adding “the story itself changed so much when we had to cut that I’m not sure where they would go with it after.”

He added that Jensen could “never catch up to the Illuminati,” but added, “we did have one name that we could get rid of and that was the one that Jensen would have caught up to and done something. But the repercussions of it…by Jensen doing this, it causes Deus Ex, if that makes sense. And that’s the tragedy of Jensen, is that he causes what happens after by doing something. He causes Bob Page to become Bob Page. That was where we were heading.”

Cecere was quick to noted that he “was not involved” in the cancelled Deus Ex game, but was “in contact with people to try and get back in and be on the team.”

Word quickly reached Toufexis after fans started reacting to the video on social media, with the actor stating on X, “Hey this would have been fun huh?”

Toufexis has not been shy in addressing the cancelled game in the past, having previously stated that the title would not have been an Adam Jensen story, and stated that Eidos Montreal had ‘dropped the ball‘ by cancelling the project.
