Lots of people are enjoying Monster Hunter World, and playing with others is a huge part of that. Getting to team up with fellow hunters and go out searching for monsters to slay is a thrilling, and great for bonding!
But not all monsters in Monster Hunter World are A.I. controlled. Some are very much a human pest, and they are spoiling the fun for a lot of players.
In co-op, some players are trolling others in Monster Hunter World you see, and Capcom have assured fans that it is looking into a way of slaying the trolls.
The trolling occurs at the end of a monster battle when players go to collect their loot from the monster's corpse by ‘carving’. Normally this is a straightforward process, yet players are reporting that nefarious teammates will sometimes use stuns and attacks in order to deliberately prevent them from ‘carving’ the monster, keeping them from collecting their loot.
Looking around, it seems this has become an all-too-common issue within Monster Hunter World, and Capcom would be wise to act fast. Even if players have found some inventive ways to combat the trolls.
Solutions so far include putting the PS4 console to sleep, then switching them back on in order to kick other players from the session, thus allowing players them to go back, carve the monsters and collect the loot in relative peace. Another is to use the Rocksteady Mantle which prevents player flinching being an issue. Lastly, being the party owner and kicking out other players is a confirmed workaround as well.
So why is this even an issue? Why are players allowed to affect each other like this?
Players colliding into one another is simply part of Monster Hunter. People are expected to be aware of where others are, and what they're doing, during combat. there’s no damage done, but reckless play could mean the difference between killing or being killed.
Hopefully Capcom can find a solution that doesn’t further sour the Monster Hunter World experience. It’s a really good experience after all.
