The developer behind Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has revealed that the company will be making “a major announcement in April.”
That’s according to a countdown on MercurySteam’s official website, which points to a reveal on Friday, April 15 at approximately 5.00pm BST. What isn’t known, however, is what the announcement pertains to, though a new Castlevania title is unlikely if we’re going by a previous science-fiction teaser released by the studio last summer.
Furthermore, David Cox, who served as producer on the Lords of Shadow titles, departed Konami two years ago, and his LinkedIn profile describes the new game as MercurySteam’s “next AAA hit.”
"When I was approached by MercurySteam to get involved in their new project, I jumped at the chance," commented Cox. "It’s been my great fortune and pleasure to work with this talented studio over many years. I’m extremely excited about this very ambitious work they’re undertaking. MercurySteam continue to push boundaries and their sheer creative spirit always astounds me. It’s great to be back with my old team mates!"
Castlevania Lords of Shadow was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late 2010, with the sequel showing up in February 2014. Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear franchise, served as a producer alongside Cox on the original game.
