Codemasters Hiring For New Unannounced IP

British studio Codemasters, the developer responsible for the Formula One series among others, has announced that it is staffing up for a new, as-yet unannounced IP.

Codemasters Teases Unannounced IP

Few details are currently available as you’d expect, but here’s what Codies had to say on its Twitter account:

Codemasters is hiring a Senior Programming Designer for a brand new, unannounced IP. This is an exciting new direction for us and we’re looking for the ideal person to join in.

That’s literally all we know so far, but the fact the studio says it’s an ‘exciting new direction’ for the company suggests it won’t be a racing game. Still, we won’t know for sure until Codemasters reveals the project, which probably won’t be for a while yet.

Codemasters’ most recent project was F1 2019 and Grid, which launched for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One last year.

The company recently acquired Slightly Mad Studios, the developer responsible for ultra-realistic racing simulator franchise, Project CARS. The acquisition resulted in the company’s staff being boosted to around 700 people.

Slightly Mad Studios is currently working on Fast & Furious Crossroads for the PS4, PC, and Xbox One, which features the likeness of actor Vin Diesel. The game was announced during The Game Awards 2019, although many were hoping the show would be closed out with the new Batman game.

Here’s a brief overview of Fast & Furious Crossroads:

Gear up for high-stakes cinematic action in a new chapter in the Fast & Furious saga as you join the family to hunt down an international crime syndicate and pump the brakes on their plans. Then play online with your friends and create your own crew for revolutionary multiplayer action and spectacular mayhem.

With all the high-speed vehicular stunts and heists, gadgets, locations, cars, and heroes from the films, Fast & Furious Crossroads casts you right at the center of the action.
