Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a native PS5 version in 2021, which will be free for all players who own the game on PS4. Now we have learned that this version will make full use of the PlayStation 5, likely including features such as DualSense and Activity Card support.
In an interview with Bloomberg TV, CD Projekt Red‘s co-founder and co-CEO, Marcin Iwinski, stated in an interview the following:
“The consoles [PS5 and Xbox Series S/X] are much faster. And then, we’re planning a free next-gen update for everyone who’s got a next-gen console. So, if you buy the game now, you can play it on next-gen. It works great because of the higher capabilities of the new consoles. But then, with the next-gen update, we’ll use all the functionalities or the new functions and technical possibilities provided by the new platforms.”
This is great news and hopefully means we will see as much usage of the PS5’s unique features as possible, although this next-gen upgrade has likely been delayed because CD Projekt Red will be working to fix bugs and issues with the main game.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PS4 and will release for PS5 in 2021.
