The Splinter Cell Remake has received some positive news for a change with the return of original game director, David Grivel, who has returned to helm the project.
Back in October 2022, Grivel announced he was departing Ubisoft after 11 years and thus leaving his role as game director on the Splinter Cell remake. However, posting on his LinkedIn profile, Grivel posted: “Today, I am very, VERY happy to announce that I’m rejoining Ubisoft Toronto as Game Director on the Splinter Cell Remake! A Very special team and project to me.”

Back in October, it was reported that the Splinter Cell Remake had lost its replacement game director (who was never actually named), although it’s good to see that Grivel has returned to the project. According to Insider-Gaming, the remake is currently in development using the Snowdrop engine and is slated to launch at some point in 2026, having been in production since 2021. Splinter Cell Remake is targeting a release on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
Splinter Cell as a franchise hasn’t seen any major movement for over a decade now, with Splinter Cell: Blacklist in 2013 being the last major instalment in the much-loved franchise.
