Activision has confirmed that the Destiny 2 beta will be available to preload for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later today.
Destiny 2 beta preload date and times confirmed
That is of course assuming you have pre-ordered the highly anticipated first-person shooter, which nets you early access to next week’s Destiny 2 beta. While there’s no word yet on the download size for the beta, the preload time has been confirmed for 10.00 am PDT/ 1.00 pm EDT/ 6.00pm BST today.
Developer Bungie confirmed the Destiny 2 beta start times yesterday, with PS4 leading the charge for pre-order customes ahead of Xbox One and PC. While early access will be available if you’ve already got your name down, the beta will be expanded to everyone after a few days, so don’t worry if you haven’t pre-ordered the game.
As previously reported, the beta session will allow players to take on a mission, a strike, plus a couple of Crucible matches. Those of you who have pre-ordered but have yet to receive your codes, don’t panic; Bungie will be rolling them out soon enough, so keep checking your emails.
Destiny 2 is scheduled for release on PS4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017, with a PC version arriving one month later. The game takes place following a Cabal-lead attack on the Tower, forcing the local Guardians into hiding and losing all their precious loot and gear in the process. Unlike the previous game, Destiny 2 will not feature Grimoire Cards to help tell its story, so expect a greater focus on in-game narrative this time around.
Bungie has confirmed a number of new additions for Destiny 2, including a revamped Crucible multiplayer that focuses on 4v4 matches, and a larger open-world ripe with side quests known as Adventures. There’s even a brand new hub complete with its own dedicate footie pitch.
