The first batch of Destiny 2 DLC will reportedly be titled ‘Curse of Osiris’ and will include a brand new patrol zone and social space.
According to sources close to Kotaku, the first expansion will roll out in December 2017 and will focus on Osiris, the mysterious character that fronts the Trials of Osiris in the original game.
Gamers will apparently be tasked with rescuing Osiris from the Vex, which ties in with previous reports that the first Destiny 2 DLC will be focused on the mechanical enemies that featured in the original game.
The new Patrol Zone will be set on Mercury, and the Lighthouse will return as the new social space. Previously, this area was only accessible to those who notched up nine consecutive wins in the Trials of Osiris in Destiny 1.
Destiny 2 is due for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017, with a PC version following in late October. The game takes place following the events of Rise of Iron, and sees a Cabal unit known as the Red Legion launching a devastating attack on the tower, humanity’s last stronghold.
Bungie confirmed this week that it has lined up some form of Destiny 2 veteran rewards, although it isn’t yet know what the studio has in mind. In addition, HDR support will be made available for the PS4 version of the shared-world shooter after launch.
The companion app is also receiving a major update for Destiny 2, although it does mean that support for the original game will be ceasing.
