Bungie has released a bunch of information about The Moon in Destiny 2, including revealing new areas and the Destination is around twice as big as it was in the original game.
All this news came from a new Developer Insights video which can be found below. As mentioned above the destination in Destiny 2 will be twice as big. It will also expand upon existing areas, allowing you to enter buildings that were previously inaccessible, such as those found in the Anchor of Light and the Hellmouth. Many areas of the Destination have been relit, with new red tones and spooky environmental objects.
A massive Hive Castle has been created on the surface of the Moon since we last saw it. The red color and pointy design were chosen to make the Castle look menacing and imposing. On top of that, a fallen Ketch is being used by the Fallen as a new base.
Shadowkeep will begin with a cinematic showing Eris awaking something on the Moon. Shadowkeep will also expand upon the lore of Humanity’s influence on the moon, such as who built all the manmade structures on the surface.
