Destiny was released in 2014 on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Despite a lukewarm reception at launch, the game quickly gained a massive following and received four major expansion: The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King, and last year’s Rise of Iron.
In addition, Bungie attempted to keep things fresh by adding various time-based events for players to dip into during specific seasons, such as Halloween’s Festival of the Lost and Valentine’s Day’s Crimson Days.
With Destiny 2 launching on PS4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017 however, the original game will be receiving less attention from Bungie, though servers for the game will remain open for those who want to continue playing it.
Destiny 2 introduces a number of shakeups for the shared-world shooter series, including a revamped multiplayer focusing on 4v4 matches, plus a more expansive open-world ripe with new side quests known as Adventures.
