Destiny’s Challenge Mode to launch next month, only hardcore PS4 Guardians need apply

Bungie has announced that it will release the Challenge Mode for the King’s Fall raid in Destiny in early December.

The new content will provide Guardians with the game’s biggest challenge to date, and is designed for only the most experienced of players. 

"Early in December, one of the King’s Fall bosses will offer their challenge each week," commented Gavin Irby’ Destiny’s Lead Raid Designer. "You’ll see which boss when you select the Raid in the Director. It will display next to a skull, just like one of our Nightfall modifiers. They work on both normal and hard mode, and offer rewards to match.

"Each boss’s challenge requires that you defeat them in a very specific manner. How, exactly? We’re going to leave that up to you to discover."

Destiny recently launched a new ‘Refer-a-Friend’ initiative for gamers to take advantage of, which rewards participants with exclusive in-game rewards. December will also see a new update released for the shared-world shooter, which applies a variety of tweaks to the performance of weapons, including Pulse Rifles and Shotguns. Destiny was released in September last year for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. The game received two DLC packs, The Dark Below and House of Wolves in December 2014 and May 2015, respectively, before Bungie released the major expansion The Taken King in September of this year, introducing a wealth of new content for the main campaign and the multiplayer component. Destiny recently introduced microtransactions into the equation, offering Guardians the chance to purchase new emotes in exchange for real-life cash (aka Silver). While many gamers remain sceptical over the use of microtransactions in games, the feature has nonetheless proved highly popular with PlayStation gamers.
