A petition calling for Sony to develop Destiny 3 has amassed nearly 350,00 signatures at the time of writing.
The petition comes following news that Bungie is ending updates for Destiny 2 as it looks to new projects, with a report on Bloomberg revealing soon after that Destiny 3 is not currently greenlit. Furthermore, Bungie itself is allegedly facing a number of significant layoffs as active development for Destiny 2 comes to an end.
Many fans probably expected Destiny 3 to be next in line from Bungie, but with the series’ future currently up in the air, there’s no guarantee we’ll ever see a new game in the franchise. Hence why there’s a petition to get things moving. Here’s what it says:

We believe in the potential of Destiny 3 to inspire new generations of gamers and to keep the fire of the Guardian spirit alive. Join us in petitioning Sony to take this leap forward. The original Destiny was released for PS4, PS3, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in September 2014, and Bungie supported the game with numerous post-launch expansions and events. Destiny 2 followed in September 2017 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, and was also optimised for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in December 2020. Like the original game, Bungie supported Destiny 2 with years worth of expansions and updates, which introduce new story arcs, abilities, weapons and more.
Prior to Bungie’s plans to cease production of content, Destiny 2 was to receive Year 9 expansions in the form of Shattered Cycle and The Alchemist. However, with development now ending, June’s Monument of Triumph is going to be the final content drop for the shared-world shooter.
