A Business Insider report has found that staff at publishing giant Electronic Arts are struggling to carry out demands from management that they utilise AI for “just about everything.”
The outlet spoke to various staff members EA, who on condition of anonymity revealed that bosses have been pushing its 1,500 employees to take advantage of AI technology to carry out a large number of tasks, including but not limited to generating code and concept art, to advising managers how to speak to staff about topics such as pay or promotions.
Furthermore, some employees have stated that the AI tools they’ve been pushed to use produce “flawed code” that must be manually corrected. Others are concerned that demand for character artists and level designers will decline, as their work is used to help train AI software.

Elsewhere, internal documents obtained by Business Insider have revealed that some staff at EA are expected to complete AI training courses, as well as utilise AI tools on a daily basis to increase their work rate and treat generative AI like “a thought partner,” such as asking it for advice.
Earlier this month it was announced that EA is set to be acquired by a group of private investors, in a deal worth $55 billion. The topic of AI is no stranger when it comes to EA, either. Back in May last year, Andrew Wilson, the company’s CEO, stated that there was a ‘real hunger‘ among its developers to use generative AI in order to speed up production.
