Pixel wizards Digital Foundry have suggested that Elden Ring could run at a locked 60 FPS on the PS5 Pro, which is a significant improvement over the game’s current performance on the standard PS5.
Speaking in the latest DF Direct Weekly, Richard Leadbetter, Alex Battaglia, and Oliver Mackenzie, looked at how Sony’s high-end platform will offer improvements over the regular model. Leadbetter used a test PC powered by AMD Radeon RX 6800 — putting it in roughly the same ballpark as PS5 Pro — to illustrate how Boost Mode will improve titles, using Elden Ring as an example.
From what he was able to find during the test, a locked 60 FPS in quality mode isn’t likely, but performance mode should offer that silky-smooth frame rate that Elden Ring currently struggles to hit. It should also be noted that this isn’t obviously a 100% accurate test of PS5 Pro Boost Mode, as the hardware obviously isn’t available yet.
Would it be locked 60 in quality mode? It would be great if it does, but perhaps not. The frame rate mode though, that’s still going to be there. You’re still going to be able to access on PlayStation 5 Pro. And just the introduction of dynamic resolution scaling there should make a difference. It should get you to 60.

The PS5 Pro is slated for release on November 7, 2024 priced at $699.99/£699.99. Sony is reportedly hoping to have around 40-50 PS5 Pro Enhanced games available at launch, although it has been noted that this feature does not guarantee 60 FPS; there will still be 30 FPS games on the console despite its added horsepower.
Digital Foundry also recently stated that the PS5 Pro may not be able to run the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI at 60 FPS.
