Tango Gameworks are thinking of you this Valentine’s Day, and they want you to get closer to people. Well, people who are actually horrific-looking monsters at least.
To help you, they’ve put a free first person mode into The Evil Within 2, allowing you to see the grim horrors of Union all up close and personal. It’s thankfully something you can turn on or off quite easily. A blessing if anything comes close to the turgid, yet mercifully brief, first person moments that already featured in the game. You can also test it out if you don’t have the game, thanks to the free trial on the PS Store.
Here’s what Tango Gameworks’ producer, Shinsaku Ohara has to say about putting in a first person mode to the underappreciated survival horror.
A lot of players like playing horror games in first-person, so for those who want to see some of the game’s situations through Sebastian’s eyes, it’s a really neat experience
I think exploring Union in first-person makes the scale feel even bigger than it does when you’re in third-person. Also, being able to see our environments and enemies up close allows players to get an even better look at how much effort went into their designs.
You can see the new first person mode in all its gory glory in the trailer below.
We quite like The Evil Within 2, handing it an 8/10 in our review last year. Garri Bagdasarov said this about the survival horror head trip.
The Evil Within 2 is a great addition to the survival horror genre. It improves in a lot of aspects from its predecessor, but also makes some sacrifices that made the original so memorable from a horror standpoint. The Evil Within 2 is a damn good game and any fan of the genre should give it a shot.
It’s a game that’s already going pretty cheap. So it looks like a great time to join the game’s lead character Sebastion in the hellish mindscape of Union.
