Koei Tecmo announced that Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake will release on March 12, 2026. During the Asian developer State of Play, Koei Tecmo unveiled a brand-new trailer for its highly anticipated remake of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly.

The trailer not only revealed the game’s release date but also some of the new features making it into the remake. The game’s signature Camera Obscura, which is used in the Fatal Frame franchise to ward off spirits by photographing them, will get some new upgrades for the remake.

The Camera Obscura will now be able to zoom in and out, focus the lens, and switch camera filters, allowing you to see things that aren’t visible to the naked eye, opening up new locations and scenes that may play out. You’ll also be able to hold the hand of Mayu this time around, restoring health and spirit power.
Koei Tecmo also announced the Digital Deluxe Edition which is avaible to pre-order now and will be avaible as a seprerate add on for the base game.
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes: Base game along with the Digital Soundtrack and Digital Art Book, and the Digital Deluxe Bonus Set, featuring the Deluxe Charm, Lace Gloves (White) / Lace Gloves (Black), and alternative outfits Japanese Gothic (Left Wing) / Japanese Gothic (Right Wing)
