FBC: Firebreak’s ‘Weak Sales’ Prompt Remedy To Issue Profit Warning To Its Investors

“Weak sales” of Remedy‘s FBC: Firebreak has seen the Alan Wake creator issue a profit warning to its investors.

FBC: Firebreak was released in June and is the first multiplayer game to be developed by Remedy, and notched up one million players just over a week after launch. However, in August the studio revealed that it was ‘unsatisfied‘ with launch-phase consumer sales, but said that it believes it has a ‘solid game to build on.’

FBC: Firebreak still has yet to reach Remedy’s internal sales target however, resulting in the developer lowering its outlook for the current business year and told investors it will take a hit of 14.9 million euros. Speaking in a statement, Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy, commented:

Remedy is recognizing a non-cash impairment of capitalized development costs and allocated purchased publishing and distribution rights related to FBC: Firebreak. While we balance future investments to the title, we continue developing and improving the game in line with our updated long-term sales forecast.

FBC: Firebreak sees players thrust into the extra dimensional HQ of the Federal Bureau of Control during its darkest hours, where you’ll take on the role of a fearless first responder. Called to confront otherworldly creatures and reality-warping anomalies, it’s up to you retain the chaos or risk completely losing control of the situation.
