Final Fantasy 15 Game Director Hajime Tabata has revealed the extent of improvements gamers can expect from the PlayStation 4 Pro version of the hotly anticipated JRPG.
In a nutshell, Final Fantasy 15 PS4 Pro gamers shouldn’t really expect much in the way of substantial enhancements over the base version of the game. Ultimately, it came down to the fact the developer didn’t have enough time to optimise the hardware, but didn’t rule out an improved version down the line.
“About the PS4 PRO, it’s basically the same thing about the PC – if we wanted to take full advantage of the new hardware that would mean putting in much effort and time to make the game look and run better…and time is something we don’t have right now neither we had foreseen the PS4 Pro existence before. In the future, with some dedication and time maybe we can get a PS4 Pro version of the game that can take advantage of the systems capabilities. But as of right now the game has maxed out the PS4 horsepower,” Tabata-san told Hobbyconsolas.
Final Fantasy 15 release date set for November
Final Fantasy 15 was originally scheduled for release on September 30, but was pushed back to allow for additional polishing. As such, the game will now appear on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 30, 2016.
Of course, gamers have been waiting the best part of a decade for the game to show up, with Square Enix initially announcing the project at E3 2006 as the PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Square Enix issued sporadic updates on the game over the next few years, although eventually the project was scrapped at around the 25 percent complete mark, with the project revamped and re-revealed as FF15 at E3 2013.
Final Fantasy 15 is a more action-oriented affair in comparison to previous entries in the venerated JRPG series, although it does signal the return to the open-world setting of older titles, complete with multiple side quests.
