Square Enix has revealed that fans will have to wait until Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 for the project to make full use of the PS5’s hardware features.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is coming to Sony’s new home console this summer, and while it will boast a number of additional performance enhancements over the PS4 release, it won’t take full advantage of the new hardware.
Speaking with Famitsu, Tetsuya Nomura commented:
In terms of graphics, lighting and textures are the main adjustments [in Intergrade], but environmental effects such as fog have also been added to further enhance the sense of realism and immersion in the world.
As for adaptive triggers, they are partially supported. However, in terms of using all of the features of PlayStation 5, please wait for the next game where we can start from scratch.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is scheduled for release on June 10, 2021, and includes a brand new chapter featuring Yuffie as a playable character. You can check out the first batch of screenshots for the game here.
