Donald Mustard was Epic Games chief creative officer and one of the original driving forces behind Fortnite for years, until he announced his retirement just days ago.
On Tuesday, Epic announced his replacement to be Charlie Wen, who’s had quite the storied career that includes co-founding and heading up Marvel’s own visual development department, and as the director of visual development at Sony Santa Monica.
Wen was with the God Of War studio back before the reboot, and worked on the original two titles from 2001-2006, and two years later joined Marvel, working on almost every big superhero movie release from Thor to Ant-Man.
He also enjoyed a stint at Riot Games, where he headed up its film department. Wen also started his own company called TenSky Entertainment, before his new position with Epic Games.
“It’s an incredible honor to collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry and contribute my experience to an organization dedicated to driving innovation in entertainment and technology.” said Wen on his LinkedIn profile.
“Deeply grateful to everyone who has come alongside me thus far. The journey ahead promises to be truly epic!”
