FromSoftware Now Appears To Be The Sole Owner Of The Elden Ring IP

Elden Ring was the biggest game of 2022, and FromSoftware’s biggest success for the legendary development studio so far.

When Elden Ring launched, the IP was owned by both FromSoftware and Elden Ring’s publisher, Bandai Namco. Though that seems to have changed recently.

A quick glance at the trademark filing in the US for Elden Ring lists FromSoftware as the owner, instead of FromSoftware and Bandai Namco. It also appears that the ownership transfer happened back in April 2023.

FromSoftware has yet to come out and make an official announcement that the studio does fully own the IP.

The change was spotted by Reddit user YasuhiroK, who adds that this was made possible due to investments from Sony and Tencent.

FromSoftware has also notably expanded since the success of Elden Ring, so it feels like a combination of all elements.

Following reports that Tencent had been trying to develop a mobile version of Elden Ring, that the IP is in the safe hands of its creators seems like it would give fans a sigh of relief.

In other Elden Ring news, we still don’t have a date for the coming DLC, and according to FromSoftware, they don’t have one either.
